What SEO Features Should Your E-Commerce Software Offer?

When first completing an SEO audit or building a new e-commerce website, there are several key steps that can set up the website for success. This includes the verification of the website through Google and Bing Webmaster Tool. These platforms allow you to see crawl errors, update SEO settings for your website, and more.

Another key feature you’ll need is the ability to setup Google Analytics or another traffic analytic tracking service. Google Analytics offers e-commerce tracking support that can display extensive information about user’s shopping behavior. To setup e-commerce tracking, your shopping cart will need to be able to pass specific data to Google Analytics via the order thank you page.

Once this is complete, it’s time to set up a dynamic XML sitemap. If your e-commerce platform can create an instantly updated XML sitemap, setup and maintenance of the sitemap will be much easier. E-commerce sitemaps must be updated regularly, as products are often removed, edited, or added to the site. Once the sitemap is set up on the site (usually located at, it can be submitted to Google and Bing Webmaster Tools, as well as other search engines, such as Ask and Baidu (China’s largest search engine).

Use SEO keyword synonyms in website content, Cutts says

How many keywords should website content include to make a site SEO-friendly? Content creation can be a complex practice if it’s not done correctly or efficiently. Businesses trying to break into effective content marketing – and figure out how to create searchable blog posts without stringing together keywords – are in luck: Google’s distinguished search engineer Matt Cutts recently answers one professional’s question about synonyms in search. As always, his insight provides viewers with tips they can use to improve their own content programs.

Recently, a viewer asked Cutts about using interchangeable keywords. The person wondered if Google’s algorithms understand synonyms, and if campaigns should try and use a variety of related terms or focus on one keyword.

Cutts advised in the video that the website owner should use both keywords and their synonyms in branded content as long as the final posts and pages don’t sound artificial or spammy. He also spoke about Google’s Synonyms Team – a group of people dedicated to analyzing terms that are similar. Cutts explains that effective use of a phrase and its synonym helps brands rank higher for both terms without becoming classified as spam. He stresses that sounding stilted is unfavorable, no matter the situation, so using a variety of keywords that sound natural is the best route to take.

SEO Success Tips For Small Business

Success with search engine optimization can seem elusive, but success does exist. Working towards that success is more crucial today than when Google, Yahoo, and MSN Search – now known as Bing – were first introduced. The secret to SEO enhancing your site – and your business – is to schedule regular checks and implementation over time. The most effective improvements usually occur from several changes over time, instead of the one silver bullet. Here are a few tips to strengthen the effectiveness of an optimization program.

I wrote a great way to start developing a keyword list in How to Optimize Search Engine Traffic on a Time Budget. A web analytics solution can take that list further through reporting which website pages are receiving organic search traffic. Use tools that allow you to click on landing page to view a page alongside the data. Also, some search patterns take a long timeframe to develop. So review data over different time periods (30 days, 60 days, 90 days, etc.) to determine hard to spot trends and patterns.

Keyword details can be a challenge in Google Analytics – Organic traffic is usually reported by keywords, but in 2011 Google encrypted data for users who arrive to a tagged site while logged into a Google account (Gmail, Google Docs). So your reports would display a “not provided” phrase for those visits instead of the keyword used.

NYC seo companies and nyc seo services

NYC is an extremely competitive market, and that means if you’re trying to rank high – you need to align yourself with where Google is today, and where Google will be in the future. If you’re looking for other sources of revenue, then getting your business listed at the top of Google should be your first priority.

Your position in Google matters, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. If you aren’t the in the top 3, then you’re barely getting any notice/traffic from your potential consumer. Simply trying to find short-term results using unethical, and inorganic methods will only hurt your business, especially if you’re in a competitive niche like NYC and looking for top rated NYC SEO Services.

Pay when you rank. We’re one of the few firms in USA that stand behind their work, and are willing to get paid only once you rank. This is an industry defying pricing program we offer all of our potential clients. No other NYC SEO firm does this. Other firms expect you to “trust,” them to deliver and if they don’t – it’s not their fault.

Powerful Free SEO Tools: Firebug For Mozilla Firefox

We all know that if you want your website to perform well online – meaning top rankings and qualified traffic that converts – you need great content. That’s the start. However, there are many technical aspects of a website that could be causing issues without you knowing, resulting in lower rankings and missed client opportunities.

Luckily, there exist specific web development and search engine optimization (SEO) tools that can help us analyze a website, discover and fix issues, and try out changes. One such powerful, free SEO tool is Firebug: a plugin for the Mozilla Firefox Internet browser:

Something I really like about this plugin is that it allows you to learn more about HTML and CSS in a risk-free, playful environment: when viewing a website, just open Firebug and click on any element of the site that you’d like to change or want to know the code of. Firebug will show you exactly which code and rules apply to that element. You can then just edit the code and see the change take place immediately.

Show Off Your Site With Proper SEO Content

SEO tweaks the design and content of your site to improve its search engine rankings. This is also a profitable business area. There are some people who believe that SEO work is inaccessible for non-professionals. Don’t listen to that!

In order to use search engine optimization to increase your visibility, your website must be well coded. If your site has a lot of messy JavaScript codes holding it together, search bots won’t be able to classify it and your ranking will suffer heavily. If your site’s Flash content does not include a text-only description or tags, it cannot be indexed by spiders.

Write your articles around certain keywords to help with search engine optimization. Using keywords that relate to your products will help search engines find your articles. In turn, your readers will find your articles more easily. As a rule of thumb, your keyword should appear in the title, the summary, and about four or five times in the main body.
