Choosing the Perfect Blog Name: Two WordPressers Share Their Secrets
We discover different types of blogs in our community, from travel to food to parenting, with memorable and clever names. You may notice that a number of blogs on WordPress.com have unique web addresses, or custom domains: instead of mysite.wordpress.com, their address is mysite.com. Bloggers get custom domains for different reasons, but ultimately, it’s a great way to build and solidify your presence across the Internet. You can register a new domain through WordPress.com; you can also use a domain you already own with your WordPress.com site, which is called domain mapping.
A crucial step before purchasing a custom domain is deciding on the right name for your blog. Since selecting a name that best reflects your content is so important, we wanted to share insights from two writers on WordPress.com — Sarah and “C.J.’s Mom” — on how they ended up with names they were happy with.
The Blogspot 100 – Top Blogger Sites of 2012
As a dedicated Blogger enthusiast, I’m very interested to learn more about the sites hosted on Google’s free blogging platform. So I decided to find out which popular sites are powered by Blogger to build upon the list curated in 2008 in order to find the most popular Blogspot sites (including those which use custom domains).
With the exception of Pagerank, these sites were scored in relation to each other, with each element scored on a scale of 1-350. Data for these rankings were gathered between July and August 2012. Alexa ranking was scored first as this value is unique to each website. In instances where sites had an equal value to another, scoring would secondly depend on this Alexa score in order to give each site a unique score.
What You Should Know Before Developing Industrial Blog Sites
At this time of the year, many industrial companies are getting ready for their annual budget planning meetings. If you are one of them, a redesign of your industrial website may also be part of those discussions.
Blog sites have become a very popular choice with many manufacturers and industrial companies since content plays such an important role in today’s digital marketing programs. These dynamic sites combine static webpages with a blog to give you the best of both worlds – fresh content and functionality. See my post, “Build Industrial Websites as Dynamic Blog Sites” for advantages of blog sites.
The thing that worries me though is that in my conversations with some of these industrial companies, I find that they want to discuss their choice of Content Management System (CMS) with me. In my opinion, that is not what you should be focusing on.

Favicon the short cut for “Favorite Icon“also known as Shortcut Icon, Website Icon, URL Icon or Bookmark Icon, is a small image or logo file which appears in browser tab, most commonly 16 x 16 pixels and is uniquely associated to a particular Website or Web Page to make it look unique when a browser is crowded with many Browser Tabs. For example, a small green colored logo of our website can be seen on your Browsers Tab, that’s the Favicon attached to our Website to make it unique to recognize when a large number of tabs are open on the User’s Browser.

SEO Blog Sites and More
Everyone today has a medium through which they express themselves. These mediums may include music, writing and so on. When it comes to writing though, gone are the days when people expressed themselves privately in secret diaries. Writing today has reached a more public platform – blogging. With blogging, people can reach out to a wider audience and express their ideas and experiences. Some people also specialise their blogs to cater to a specific group of readers. We have movie review blogs, food blogs, and technical advice blogs and so on. Whatever topic the blog might be about, it is important to make sure that the content reaches out to the audience. If this is not done, then however good the content might be, it’ll all get wasted.
The best way to get your blog to reach a wider base of readers is by optimizing the content according to the keywords that are most searched for. This called search engine optimization or SEO. If SEO is carried out properly, it becomes possible for search engines to index your content easily. This helps your blog in moving up in the list of search results. A professional SEO optimization company will tell you exactly how to do this. As SEO for blogs is a little different than SEO for web pages, enlisting professional help is a wise decision. As a blog is not a sales pitch, there is more focus on the quality of the content and hence, the keywords need to be embedded more smoothly and cleverly.
